Com:post
COM:POST has created a closed loop system that takes floristry green waste transforming it into compost. Their mission is to empower the floristry industry and its customers to make sustainable choices by turning green waste into compost. Through automating the composting process and encouraging the responsible disposal of cut flowers, they are committed to reducing the carbon footprint associated with the floral industry.
Large compostable paper sacks are used which are filled with green waste by the florists signed up to their system, these are then collected and taken to their composting site and turned into rich compost. The sacks are a key part of this process as they help with the composting itself, they are also really easy to use and replace the bins in the florist workshops or flower shops. The compost created is then used to grow more flowers or food, therefore closing the loop.
They currently operate in London and the South East, they plan to roll out across the UK from early 2025.
